One night I watched a movie with my parents and it was very eye-opening for me. The main character was a workaholic who in the beginning of the movie was literally glued to her phone.

Attending a week-long seminar, she had to give up her phone at the start of each day. The very first day she was so hesitant to give it up, saying "No. I need my phone." In fact, she even snuck away to make a phone call or two in the beginning.

Watching this movie made me realize just how attached I had gotten to mine.

I must have been on it several hours a day! I would check emails. I would check my social media accounts and news sites. I would write.

I had been telling myself over and over that I was going to set a certain time when I would put the phone down. Made plans not to use it on the weekends. But to no avail.

In other words I had become your average cell phone user. Constantly glued to it and for reasons usually totally unnecessary. I had allowed it to interfere with time I should have spent with my family. I would become patient if I had to deal with distractions... your typical real world life stuff one has to handle.

During this pandemic I have come to learn numerous things..

One being it all can wait.

Yes, it all can wait.

I have made a vow to myself once I am done doing whatever it is I want to do...I am done. The phone is going down!

I am putting it away!

I have come to realize my life is not going to end. I got books I have been wanting to read. I have shows on my DVR I have been wanting to watch. I have a dog I can play with. Relatives and friends I can spend time with.

Even better...I received an Amazon Fire tablet for my birthday a couple of years ago and it has cut my time on my phone drastically!

In other words I have finally found a life!

So I am going to live it!
